Wendy Klemperer salvages industrial materials to construct expressive gestural sketches in steel. Species that once lived in the region including Elk, Mountain Lion, Wolf and Caribu are REIMAGINED on the College of the Atlantic campus overlooking Frenchmans Bay. All work is for sale with additional commissions available.

SCULPTURE at Portland International Jetport
Dedication
November 4th, 2011 3:00 - 4:00 pm
A herd of six deer, a porcupine and wolf are now sited along the entry road to the Portland International Jetport. Arts patron William Hamill has donated the sculpture by Wendy Klemperer to the City of Portland. They were purchased from the Maine Audubon exhibition Re-Imagined and were approved by the Portland Public Arts Committee and accepted by the Portland City Council. These expressive wildlife sketches in steel will now welcome people to the state of Maine.
The reception and dedication will be in the “meet and greet area” at the foot of the escalator downstairs on the way to baggage claim. Please bring your parking ticket in to be validated. Paul Bradbury, director of the Jetport, will say a few words at 3:30. Refreshments will be served. Meet the artist and view the installation including a HERD OF DEER, a PORCUPINE and WOLF sited along the entryway road off Congress Street at the Portland International Jetport, now a part of the City of Portland’s public arts collection. A selection of sculpture by New England artists is at Hawk RIdge Farm though there is no formal Fall or Winter exhibition. Photos will be on the website and visits can be made by appointment for those seeking sculpture. Gift certificates are available for next year’s shows.

BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY
June 15th -July 27th, 2011
For those considering sculpture, this is an exhibition of both small and large scale works selected from 30 artist’s studios throughout New England. Materials include granite, basalt, marble, bronze, steel and wood and are shown in meadows, gardens and country home of Hawk Ridge Farm.
Sculpture can act as a focal point on the landscape or a contemplative garden. It enlivens its place as it heightens our awareness of sensual form and all that endures. BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY is a celebration of sculpture from the region.
Open by appointment. Feel free to bring family and friends. Directions can be e-mailed.

Wildlife sculpture by Wendy Klemperer
Wendy Klemperer salvages industrial materials to construct expressive gestural sketches in steel. This exhibition features extirpated wildlife species including life size wolves, elk, caribou, and mountain lions along with native deer, fox and porcupines. Sculpture is sited along the entry drive, woodland trails, by the pond and apple orchards of Gilsland farm, re-imagining these species on the Maine landscape.

This show features the sculpture of Cabot Lyford, born in 1925. Respected by his peers and revered by his patrons, Cabot Lyford has sculpture in public and private collections throughout the country. He simply says," I carve because I must". Do not miss this exhibition of his work in granite, wood, aluminum and bronze from various periods and collected from his Maine galleries and his studio. The sculpture of 25 outstanding artists from New England will be also be displayed in this indoor and outdoor exhibition and sale.

Featuring artists Lise Becu and Ray Carbone
Lise Becu brings a fluid, dreamlike quality to her work focusing on wildlife and women. She allows images to emerge while letting parts of the natural stone relief remain. Inspired by his rich natural environment, Ray Carbone is an accomplished wildlife artist working in wood, granite and bronze. Sculpture scaled for the home and garden will be sited in the visitors’ center, butterfly and wild flower gardens.

Following a retrospective of Gary Haven Smith’s work at the Currier Museum in New Hampshire, this is a major exhibition and sale of sculpture by this celebrated artist. Both interior and exterior pieces will be sited in the country home and gardens of Hawk Ridge Farm. Materials include granite, basalt, slate, lead, gold and silver leaf and sizes range from carved glacier boulders to constructed and painted wall hangings. A selection of other work by New England sculptors is included in this fall exhibition. Gather friends, hike Bradbury Mountain, eat at Edna and Lucy’s and consider sculpture for your home and garden.
